11 September 2023

Edition two of GP Explorer, organised by Squeezie, was won in style by Alpine driver Depielo. Starting from pole position, he held his own through the opening laps of the race to keep the lead right to the finish. After a runner-up finish in 2022, he lifted the winner’s cup on the top step of the podium, surrounded by his coach Esteban Ocon, and Pierre Gasly, BWT Alpine F1 team drivers.

Alpine would like to congratulate all the GP Explorer teams and especially the drivers who, in the scorching heat at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit, outdid themselves and put on an incredible show: AnaOnAir, who finished 5th, Théodort and Djilsi, who finished 13th and 14th, and Manon and Maxime Biaggi, who unfortunately retired following a collision at the start of the race.

"Today was quite simply incredible! Everything came together to create an unforgettable event. After the frst edition in 2022, I had one goal: to win, which I did today. I'd like to thank Squeezie for creating such a great event, all my team-mates on the starting grid, the unbridled public who supported us on site and from afar, along with Alpine and Esteban, who gave their full support." - Depielo, GP Explorer 2 winner

"A huge well done to Depielo for his high-flying performance. Manon and Depielo have been through a lot over the last few months in preparation for this unique day and race. They showed real team spirit and outdid themselves. Many thanks for the warm welcome and the public's enthusiasm for the Alpine brand. This day will remain etched in my memory for a long time to come," said Esteban Ocon, BWT Alpine F1 Team driver.

"I'm very proud of the team I've had the chance to coach today under the Alpine banner. We made a great team with Djilsi and Theodort, and we had a lot of fun in the preparation without ever losing sight of the sporting targets and the quest for performance on the track. And a big thank you to Squeezie, who created a great event and brought together an incredible French crowd," added Pierre Gasly, BWT Alpine F1 Team driver.

Alpine at GP Explorer 2

The GP Explorer 2 once again attracted a huge turnout, with 60,000+ fans in attendance at Le Mans and a record online audience of more than 1.3 million people connected live on Twitch. On Saturday 9 September, 24 content creators in teams of 2, including 12 rookies competing for the first time, became drivers for a race on the Le Mans Bugatti circuit behind the wheel of a Formula 4.

Alpine organised several activities throughout the day, including:

  • Demonstration runs of two BWT Alpine F1 Team cars on the legendary Le Mans track by Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon;
  • Hot laps with a fleet of A110s driven by the Alpine Band of Racers: F1 drivers, Victor Martins, Raphaël Astier, Antoine Leclerc, Margaux Verza, Laurent Hurgon and David Praschl;
  • The A110 received a new look in the colours of the Alpine drivers;
  • The A110 Pikes Peak was also on display, just back from the legendary American hill climb, where it finished on the podium.

Replay of the race is available on Squeezie’s Twitch
